Chill Out Dog Training (CODT) helps dog owners struggling with behavior and training issues that were otherwise deemed as unsolvable. Through training, CODT aims to replace owner’s feelings of frustration and unease in with confidence and pride. As the Denver-based company’s approach had recently gained some serious attention and desire, they reached out to us to help them scale their brand efforts as they expanded their company into a second location.
CODT knew that a scalable website was a must, as it would be their primary tool for awareness and traffic direction, so this was the primary priority on the list. They also knew that really fleshing out their brand was a necessity for recognition and growth. With this in mind, formalization of brand elements, consistency, print collateral and video content creation were all high priorities for this cohesive project effort.
Upon an extensive deep dive into their existing brand as well as competitive analysis, we realized that the brand tonality had to be a healthy mix of vibrance and grit, whimsy and sincerity. To nail down the vibrancy aspect, we wanted a versatile color palette that evoked the positive feelings of “a day in the park” with you dog. Additionally, we wanted to elude to the fact that training is not easy, and although dog ownership can be a joy, it has its challenges. To contrast this bright and moody color palette, we chose very strong typefaces “Komu A” for headlines and “Work Sans” for body copy. We also created an omnipresent gritty pattern that overlays images and background colors for a weathered, pseudo-vintage look.
Next we used these established elements to update the existing logo, create new print collateral for their organization and button it all up with a brand guidelines book and animated video.
For the design and website development, we created a completely custom WordPress theme. We accommodated for the backend custom fields to be as simple and dynamic as possible both to keep the client capable of quickly creating and publishing page and post content throughout the site. Of equal importance, we made sure that the overall brand aesthetic was balanced out by smooth and elegant scroll-based animations and fluid transitions, all the while not compromising site speed and load times.
A modern, relevant and aesthetically pleasing enhancement of this burgeoning brand was released. Chill Out Dog Training now can confidently offer their clients and potential clients a one-stop source via their website, where users can take a deeper dive into their concept, read up on training tips with their blog posts, learn about the service offerings on a city-by-city basis, and allow users to deep dive into their trainers before doing the desired action of “scheduling a consultation.”
Finally, CODT can now confidently present themselves and their brand offerings as industry-leading professionals in the dog-training space complete with our well-thought plan, collaboration and branded materials.
Chill Out Dog Training was in need of not only a brand refresh, but a complete update to our existing website.
